The Jeff Davis HS Band would like to invite each and every one of you to our 2nd annual spaghetti dinner. The event will take place in the commons from 5-9pm. We will feature our newly established 2nd jazz ensemble, jazz ensemble #1, drum line and marching band. Aside from the awesome musical performances, we will have items for sell, a silent auction and delicious food! Also, “padres panteras” will be hosting a community health fair inside the cafeteria.

Mr. Jimenez: I am an alumni of Davis High and member of the two active alumni groups @ Davis: Jeff Davis Alumni & Friends (this is the group that gives money to any Davis group or organization) and the Jeff Davis Hispanic Alumni Assn. (this group has various trips to the casino and has an annual scholarship dance each October as their fundraisers – that money goes to Davis graduating Seniors for college help only. I went to the Davis vs. Austin Homecoming game and I was so impressed with the Davis Band, majorettes, and Flag group. Please tell them for me that all those former Davis graduates in the stands were VERY PROUD of them. Unfortunately, I was sitting on the Austin side (my husband is an Austin alumni) and we sat in front of the Austin Principal. My husband is a member of the Austin Alumni Association so, he knows the principal very well. When the principal saw the huge Davis band, he made a moment out loud about how good they looked and the amount of band students. You can imagine how I felt……Davis Proud….and even my husband agreed. I know that you need funds and the JD Alumni & Friends can help…..I don’t know the procedure since I left the school……I was the school secretary @ Davis until I retired a few years ago, but you can go to Mr. Rumbo and tell him what you need and the amount. He will probably go to the Principal and tell her of your request. Sometimes the school can pay for items. Tell him I responded to your email and told you about this Davis alumni group. If he says go ahead and email us, you can send your request to me by email and I will submit it to the Disbursement Committee, which I am a member. I’m also this group’s Secretary. If your request is important to the Band, we can award the Band some funds. I heard some beautiful comments about you from Gerardo Deleon (which is a member of the JD Alumni & Friends), and the great work you have done with the Band. When I saw the Band at the HC game, it came to me how all the former Davis Band members could gather at a Davis game and be recognized…..and it can be done by Facebook, etc. and I know of some alumni emails that can get the word out……I was at Davis HS since 1987. The only problem is that I’m a Grandmother of 3 going on 4 in February and I’m always in Pearland taking care of these kids and one that lives close to Austin High (cause his Dad is a teacher there).
