Slater Martin Invite

Dear Distinguished Alumni,

Since taking over the Men’s Basketball Program last season, I have seen tremendous growth in the number of students wanting to participate in our program. Last season only 25 students tried out, but this season, our tryout attracted more than 40 kids! With such increased interest we would like to expand our program to better meet the needs of our students. As you may know, participating in extracurricular activities like basketball helps children learn responsibility, character, discipline, and the satisfaction of hard work – all while having fun.

The Men’s Basketball Team would like to keep the Davis High School Alumni informed about what is going on this season to celebrate in our success, to invite your participation but also to ask for your support. We are currently seeking donations to purchase new equipment to fill the needs of such a large group. We also want to provide new uniforms to our sub varsity teams, which make up the largest portion of our basketball program but are also the future of our program. Unfortunately, candy sales and standard fundraising activities are not enough. Our program greatly appreciates your continued support and commitment to JDHS and Men’s Basketball. We are requesting that you consider making a monetary donation to help with our teams’ expansion, but would also love it if you would consider attending our games this upcoming season or even our practices. Your support is greatly appreciated by our coaching staff, administration, but most especially our athletes.

Attached you will find a flyer for our “1st Annual Slater Martin Basketball Game” on November 21, 2014. We will honor Slater Martin, class of 1943, by retiring his jersey and raising a banner in his honor. We look forward to starting this new tradition and eventually growing it into a tournament with our new facilities.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in panther purple, cheering in the crowd.

Thank you,

Louis Hernandez

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOUSTON, TEXAS

PEGSTAR AND FITZGERALD’S ANNOUNCE THE SECOND INSTALLMENT OF THE “FITZ BENEFIT SHOW SERIES”.

HOUSTON MUSICIANS COVER YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO RAISE $10,000 IN ONE NIGHT.

In November of 2001, Pegstar booked their first show to benefit the victims of the events of September 11. Since then, Pegstar has tried to keep community goals at the forefront of their business by participating in many local events that support non-profits. Pegstar is very pleased to announce that Fitzgerald’s, which Pegstar partly owns and operates, is hosting multiple events designed to raise funds and awareness for worthy causes.

Pegstar and Fitzgerald’s have the collective aspiration to set up an infrastructure for events to be held bi-annually under the title of “The Fitz Benefit Show Series”, with the support of local musicians, neighbors, and concert goers. Each event will benefit a different cause and have a local business match door revenue gained at the event to increase the funds raised.

The Second event of this benefit series will take place at Fitzgerald’s (2706 White Oak) on October 18th, 2014 and will be benefiting Jefferson Davis High School Music Program

Some of Houston’s most well known bands will be covering other artists for this unique show. This is an opportunity to see and hear these artists in rare form.
